My Fair Lady formed in Brighton during the mid-1990s with Mark Millard on vocals, Dave Larder on guitar, Mark Dawson on bass, and Jamie Graham on drums. Their debut album, 'For Nothing We Stand,' came out in 1997. The title track from that record became something of an anthem for listeners who felt disconnected from the mainstream.
Their sound pulled from alternative rock with touches of post-punk and glam. Millard's vocal delivery was raw and often confrontational, which sometimes spilled over into their live shows. The band played Glastonbury in 1998, riding the momentum from that first album.
They released one more studio album, 'Serotonin,' in 2000. Songs like 'Brightside of Darkness' and 'Collapse' carried on with the same intense, melodic style. My Fair Lady never broke through to wide commercial success, but they maintained a dedicated following who appreciated their unpolished approach.
