Archive material and source history

My Getaway formed in Salt Lake City in 2010 with Mikey Larsen on vocals and guitar, Ryan Stevens on bass, Nate Pyfer on drums, and Josue Ortiz on keyboards. They built a local following with energetic shows and melodic indie rock.

Their 2014 album 'Chutes and Ladders' gave them their breakthrough, with the title track becoming their most recognizable song. The record showed a more developed sound, pairing thoughtful lyrics with layered guitars and vocal melodies. Other songs from that period like 'Hush Hush' and 'Old 91c' became staples of their set.

Keyboardist Josue Ortiz left the band in 2016, and they continued as a trio. They've released two more albums since then, 'Summertime, Again' in 2017 and 'Far Away Lands' in 2020.
