My Girlfriend is a Gumiho formed in 2009 after the group Violet disbanded. The band included vocalist Lee Seung-gi, guitarist Kang Min-kyung, and drummer Chae Dong-ha. Their name references the mythical fox spirit from Korean folklore.
Their debut single "Fox Rain" came out in 2010 and became their most recognizable track. The song appeared on their 2010 OST album and featured traditional Korean instrumentation alongside Lee Seung-gi's vocals. They followed it with other songs like "Deot" and "From Now On I Love You."
Kang Min-kyung faced plagiarism accusations regarding "Fox Rain," which the band defended. They released another album called MGFG in 2011 with singles like "Scary Fairy" and "Don't Forget Me." Their music blended pop elements with Korean melodic traditions.
