My Life In The Knife Trade formed in London in 2011 with Dave Thomas on vocals and guitar, Ryan Cook on bass, and Matt Johnson on drums. They started with the usual small shows and financial struggles that most new bands face in the city's underground scene.
Their first EP, "From The Depths," came out in 2013, followed by the album "A Long Way From Home" in 2015 and the EP "The Wild Wood" in 2017. Thomas's lyrics often dealt with personal struggle and societal themes, heard in songs like "We Rise Against The Tide Of Tomorrow With Everything We Have" and "Bury Your Enemies."
In 2018, the band had a public dispute with their former record label that led to legal challenges.
