Archive material and source history

My Vitriol formed in Birmingham in 1997 with Som Wardner on vocals and guitar, Karl Demata on bass, and Ravi Kesavaram on drums. Their debut album 'Finelines' came out in 2001 after some lineup shuffling, with Demata leaving just before its release and Gav Richards stepping in on bass.

The track 'Infantile' from that album became something of a calling card for the band, with lyrics about childhood trauma and mental illness that drew both praise and criticism for their raw, graphic quality. Other songs like 'Safety Zones Crumple Zones' and 'Another Lie' showed a similar willingness to push into uncomfortable emotional territory.

They put out two more albums, 'Caught in the Headlights' in 2003 and 'Invisible Lines' in 2005, with the bass position changing hands a few more times over those years. The band's sound stayed rooted in that abrasive, confrontational approach they'd established early on.
