Nada Chega formed in 1997 with four musicians from Rio de Janeiro: Pedro Lucas on vocals, Cadu on guitar, Ronaldo Silva on bass, and Helinho on drums. They took their name from the phrase meaning "nothing comes close."
Their song "Onde Rola o Samba, Onde o Bicho Pega!" became something of an anthem in Rio's samba scene. They released albums including "Nada Chega" in 1999, "Samba, Suor e Sangue" in 2003, "Nação Samba" in 2007, and "De Pé no Chão" in 2011.
Cadu handled guitar and much of the songwriting, while Pedro Lucas was the frontman. Their lyrics sometimes touched on social issues, which drew both attention and criticism in Brazil at the time.
