Nalini

Nalini is a band built around lead vocalist and songwriter Nalini Deshpande, whose voice gives the group its name and its haunting, soulful center. Guitarist and producer Amit Sharma, bassist Ravi Patel, and drummer David Rodriguez round out the lineup. They released their debut album 'Weaver of Dreams' in 2006, followed by 'The Edge of the World' in 2009, which included the single 'Unless.'

That song, 'Unless,' along with tracks like 'The Real End' and 'Ancorar,' became touchstones for their sound, a blend of acoustic folk and atmospheric electronics that supports Deshpande's emotive delivery. Their later albums, 'Beneath the Surface' in 2013 and 'Echoes of Time' in 2017, continued this exploration, sometimes leaning more introspective or experimental.

Early in their career, the band's use of Indian musical elements sparked some debate about cultural appropriation. They've also spoken about personal challenges within the group. Through it, they've maintained a steady output, letting the music, songs like 'We Know' from their catalog, speak for itself without much flash or industry fanfare.
