Nalowa J. was a Jamaican dancehall group that formed in the mid-1980s, led by Oswald "Lenny" Robinson and Fitzroy "Joe" Bailey. Their track "89 (part I)" became something of an anthem in the dancehall scene of that period. The group's sound pulled from roots reggae and dancehall, with some hip-hop influence in the mix.
They released their debut album "89 (Part II)" in 1989, followed by other records like "No Fuss (Part I)" in 1990 and "Red Hot N' Rebellious" in 1991. Another song, "RNAm (c'est la vie)," appears among their notable tracks. The group's lineup included Clive "Dr. Pachu" Wright on keyboards, Kirk "Kirky" Thomas on drums, and Dennis Campbell on bass.
At one point, Nalowa J. A compilation called "The Best of Nalowa J" came out in 2002.
