Não Tem Mistério formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 2000s with Leonardo Barros on vocals and guitar, Jefferson Silva on bass, and Gabriel Martins on drums. They built a following playing the city's underground venues with a mix of pop, rock, and samba.
Their 2006 single "Um Beijo Pra Ficar" became a radio hit in Brazil, which led to more shows and television appearances. That same year they released their debut album, also called Não Tem Mistério. They put out a few more records over the next several years, including Em Busca do Sol in 2008 and Tempo de Amar in 2010.
The band's lineup expanded to include Ricardo Sousa on keyboards and Bruno Santos on backing vocals and percussion. In 2012, Barros was arrested after a public altercation, though the charges were later dropped. Some critics have said their music relies too much on standard pop formulas.
