Nasser Khalil was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1965 and moved to Brazil as a youth. He formed the band Nasser Khalil e a Noite in the mid-1980s, releasing their first album in 1986. His music draws from both Arabic melodies and Brazilian rhythms like samba and bossa nova.
In 1997, Khalil's song 'Brisa, Vento, Vendaval e Furacão' became widely known in Brazil and gained attention internationally. Other songs like 'Feito Canção' and 'O Poeta Triste' appear among his most recognized work. He continued recording through the 1990s with albums including 'Nasser' in 1999.
