Natalino Cândido da Silva, known simply as Natalino, sang in Rio de Janeiro during the 1930s and 1940s. He started performing in street festivals as a kid in the Gamboa neighborhood and later sang with the carnival band Deixa Falar. His first recording was a song called 'Brasil, Brasil' in 1930.
His 1938 song 'Pro Brasileiro, Alemão É Sopa' became particularly well-known. He performed at political rallies and union events around that time.
His music was considered subversive by officials, but he kept singing about social issues anyway. Another of his songs was 'Sinhá Lurdinha'.
