Natan formed in the late 1990s when four musicians from the Sertão town of Crateús came together. The group included vocalist Gleydson Gavião, guitarist Gusttavo Lima, bassist Márcio Batera, and drummer Daniel do Acordeon. They played what some called 'forronejo,' a mix of traditional forró and sertanejo styles.
Their 2006 album 'Caboclo Do Sertão' brought them wider attention, with the title track becoming particularly well-known. Other songs like 'Na Estação' and 'Consolador' also found an audience. The music often drew from the landscapes and stories of Brazil's northeastern Sertão region.
After that breakthrough, they continued releasing music for about a decade. Their work stayed focused on the sounds and themes of their home region, even as their audience grew beyond it.
