Archive material and source history
Nativos formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil in the early 2000s with a lineup that included guitarists Diego Dreher and Luciano Leães, bassist Rodrigo Tavares, keyboardist Marcelo Galter, and percussionist Rafael Schuler. They released their debut album 'Marcha da Lua' in 2005, which featured the song 'Castelhana' that became their breakout track.
Their music draws from traditional Brazilian rhythms while incorporating contemporary pop and electronic elements. Beyond 'Castelhana,' their catalog includes songs like 'Canta Catarina,' 'Baila Morena,' and 'Bugio da Capela.' They followed their debut with albums 'Alto Astral' in 2009 and 'Nativos em Concerto' in 2013.
In 2015, the band faced a plagiarism accusation regarding the melody of 'Castelhana,' which was settled out of court. Their music has appeared in film soundtracks and television commercials.
