Nazareno formed in São Paulo in 1996 with brothers Nilson and Nesio Lima and their friend Márcio Mello. They drew from MPB, axé, and samba, making music that reflected Brazilian life without trying to fit neatly into any one category.
Their debut album 'Nas Eternas Madrugadas' came out in 2000 and included the song 'Baladinha,' which became their most recognizable track. They followed it with 'Tempo de Sedução' in 2002 and a self-titled album in 2006, each showing a gradual shift in their approach to writing and arranging.
Early on, their style and lyrics sometimes drew mixed reactions, but they kept working. By 2008 they had recorded a live album in São Paulo, capturing the energy of their shows.
