Neal McCoy was born in Jacksonville, Texas in 1958. He started playing in bands around the Texas honky-tonk circuit before signing with Atlantic Records in 1989. His self-titled debut album came out the following year.
During the 1990s, McCoy put out a series of records that gave him steady radio play. Songs like 'Hillbilly Rap' and 'She Can' showed his range, from novelty numbers to straightforward country. 'Me Too' became his biggest hit in 1997, reaching number one on the country charts.
He's released several albums since, including 'The Cross Eyed Cat' in 2000. McCoy still performs with a band that includes guitarist Bobby Terry and drummer Mike Patrum.
