Necros formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1979 as a trio with Ken Pfaff on vocals and guitar, Pete Marshall on drums, and Blaine Cook on bass. They put out their first album I.R.A. in 1981, which included the track 'Andy's Shit For Brunch (A.S.F.B.)'. That song, along with others like 'I Hate My School' and 'Conquest For Death', became part of their early catalog.
In 1983 they released Conquest For Death, which showed some shift from straightforward punk. By 1988 they returned to faster material with Tangled Up In Plaid, and the following year they put out a live album called Aftermath. Their lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being offensive or misogynistic, and their live shows could be confrontational.
They remained a band that punk listeners knew for raw energy and unfiltered delivery. Songs like 'Reject' and 'Bad Dream' kept that straightforward, aggressive sound. Their influence on later punk acts is often mentioned, though the specifics tend to get vague.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
