Nelly Farfan

Nelly Farfán was born in Mexico City and grew up listening to Mexican folk music. She released her debut album 'Amor Gitano' in 1988, which helped establish her as a singer in Mexico.

In 1997, she released 'Angelito,' a song that became particularly well-known. The melody came to her one night while looking at the stars, and she wrote lyrics inspired by children's innocence. The song's gentle rhythm and warm message connected with many listeners.

In the early 2000s, there were some allegations about the origins of 'Angelito,' which Farfán disputed, maintaining the melody was her own. Beyond that particular song, she continued recording music in the Mexican tradition.
