Archive material and source history
Netzwerk is an electronic duo from Berlin formed in 1994 by Christoph Hohl and Michael Shulte. They started with a self-released EP called 'Immersion' that year, which got some attention but didn't sell much. Their sound was hard to pin down from the beginning, and they had trouble finding a label that wanted to work with them.
Things changed in 1998 when they put out 'Memories.' The track had a haunting melody and ethereal synths that connected with people, becoming a dance hit in several countries. It's still the song most people know them by, though they also recorded tracks like 'Send Me An Angel' and 'Passion' around that time.
After 'Memories,' they kept making albums through the 2000s, including 'Control' in 1998, 'Messages' in 2003, and 'Lost in Time' in 2006. In 2001, they got tied up in a legal fight over the rights to 'Memories,' which pulled the song from sale for a while. They worked through it and kept putting out music, with a remix collection in 2008 and another album called 'Origins' in 2014.
