The Reality Of a Dream

We walk the earth,

Across the seas and headlong deep into the shoreline.

When did brutality become a virtue?

Have we forsaken our beliefs, tyranny was never an option.

Such outrage, from morals too thin to filter out the wrong,

The wretched the weak and the many.

Once again we crossed the line.

We made ruins of this place.

To be decent men in indecent times.

It never seemed quite real.

And yet sometimes the darkest days are all that we have,

So should we embrace the light, or choose to close our eyes?

Lying awake,

I'm just dreaming of the things we could have been and the horrors i've seen.

This silence has become a friend,

Staring into the heart of midnight, my eyes scan for daylight.

The clocks tick by and through the years, oh how they've sung their song.

Dismantling the memories, of the dead and gone.

But we cannot forgive or forget our choices.

We are ashamed of what we've done or worse what we have become.
