New Radicals put out just one album, 'Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too,' in 1998. The record had a few songs that got some attention, like 'Someday We'll Know' and 'Mother We Just Can't Get Enough,' but it was 'You Get What You Give' that really stuck around. That track's mix of pop hooks and sharp lyrics about the music business made it stand out, even if the band itself didn't last long.
Gregg Alexander wrote most of the material and sang lead. Danielle Brisebois handled backing vocals and co-wrote some songs, while Dustin Didier played bass. They broke up not long after the album came out, with Alexander going on to write for other artists like Shakira and Britney Spears. Brisebois eventually put out a couple solo records of her own.
What's left is mainly that one album and its big single. 'You Get What You Give' still turns up on playlists and in movies, keeping the band's name alive even though they were only around for a short time in the late '90s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
