Ney Bahrbosa

Ney Bahrbosa was born in Itacaré in 1946 and started writing songs early, influenced by Brazilian styles like samba and bossa nova. He released his first album 'Pé de Vilar' in 1973, which included the track 'Pelo Senhor' that became a hit. The record mixed traditional Brazilian music with rock and pop elements.

In 1976 he put out 'Nego', an album that addressed racial inequality and discrimination. He kept recording through the late 1970s and early 1980s with albums like 'A Origem' and 'Mãe', and toured in Europe and Latin America.

He worked with musicians including Joel Nascimento on bass, Paulinho da Costa on drums, and Dori Caymmi on keyboards. Later albums included 'Quem Tem Medo de Samba?' in 1986 and 'Sempre Alguém' in 2000. He remained active in Brazilian music, performing and mentoring younger artists.
