Nicolosi

Nicolosi formed in Berlin in 2012 around vocalist Elif Deniz Nedret and multi-instrumentalist Markus Wilms. Their music pulled from ambient techno and post-punk, favoring synthesizers and a moody, atmospheric approach. Their debut album 'See It Go' came out in 2014, followed by 'The Fear of Missing Out' in 2017.

Their song 'See It Go' became a particular touchstone, a slow-burning track built on synthesizer textures and Nedret's vocals. Another track, 'Wasted Time,' reflects their tendency toward introspective lyrics and layered electronic arrangements. They worked largely outside mainstream channels, which sometimes drew criticism for being too cerebral or inaccessible.

Nicolosi's two albums established a consistent sound, ethereal, slightly dark, and built for headphones rather than dance floors. They didn't chase commercial formulas, and their output remained relatively modest. The band's profile stayed more niche than widespread, but their records found listeners drawn to that specific blend of electronic atmosphere and lyrical melancholy.
