Nicotine

Nicotine was a rock trio that formed in the late 1980s with Jake Reynolds on vocals and guitar, Max Davis on bass, and Tom "Thump" Johnson on drums. They had some early trouble getting attention from labels, but things turned around in 1991 when their debut single "I Was Made For Loving You" caught on. That song's big guitar riffs and melodic hooks gave them a sudden push into the mainstream.

Their live shows were known for being loud and a bit messy, which sometimes got them into trouble with the press. One concert in particular, where things got rowdy with drinking and nudity, caused a stir that briefly overshadowed the music. Still, they kept putting out albums through the '90s and early 2000s, like 1993's "Electric Love" and 1996's "Skin Deep."

Beyond "I Was Made For Loving You," their catalog includes songs like "Baby One More Time," "Pull up," and "Amnesia." The band's sound mixed hard rock energy with some bluesy touches and straightforward pop melodies. They stopped being active at some point, but those early '90s records still turn up on rock playlists.
