Nidji formed in Jakarta in 2002 with Giring Ganesha on vocals, Ramadhista Akbar and Andi Ariel Harsya on guitars, Ariel Muhammad on bass, and Adrie Prakarsa on drums. Their 2006 debut album 'Breakthru' included the hit 'Biarlah,' which became popular among younger listeners in Indonesia.
Adrie Prakarsa left the band in 2009, replaced by Randy Danistha. In 2016, vocalist Giring Ganesha took a break from the band to focus on politics, with Ubay filling in temporarily. They released several more albums including 'Hari Bersamanya' in 2007, 'Top Up' in 2010, and 'Liberty' in 2015.
