Nidus Expire

Nidus Expire started as a solo project by Phil Tougas in Vancouver around 2013. The music came together under that name with a mix of electronic industrial sounds and atmospheric black metal elements, though it never settled neatly into one genre. Early songs like 'When The World Falls Apart' and 'Arecibo Message' showed the project's lean toward darker, more abrasive textures.

Their first album 'Sister, Imperator' came out in 2016, followed by 'The Plague of Years' in 2019 and 'Self-Annihilation' in 2021. The lyrics often dealt with existential themes and social commentary, which sometimes put them at odds with more mainstream listeners. Tracks such as 'City Of Angles' and 'Heed Sirens Speech' carried that same confrontational tone.

While they developed a following in Vancouver's underground scene, Nidus Expire kept working outside conventional channels. The music remained intentionally difficult to categorize, built around Tougas's vision rather than commercial expectations. Even as they put out more material, they stayed committed to that uncompromising approach.
