Nilo Sérgio was a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Salvador, Bahia. He first gained attention in the mid-1980s with his debut album 'O Bom Rapaz,' which included the song 'Falta-me Alguém.' That track became particularly well-known for its melancholic melody and poetic lyrics about love and longing.
He continued recording music through the 1990s and early 2000s, putting out albums like 'Deixa Eu Te Amar' in 1993, 'Quem Voltou' in 1997, and 'Pra Sempre' in 2002. He performed with a backing group called Banda Nilo Sérgio and occasionally collaborated with other Brazilian artists including Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil.
In 2011, Nilo Sérgio was murdered in Salvador. His death was felt across Brazil's music community, though his recordings, particularly 'Falta-me Alguém,' remain familiar to many listeners.
