Nils Lofgren started playing guitar young and formed the band Grin in the mid-1960s. After Grin dissolved, he put out his first solo album in 1975. He joined Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band in 1984, playing guitar and singing with that group for years.
His solo work includes songs like 'Black Books' from the 1977 album 'I Came to Dance' and 'Keith Don't Go' from a 2019 release. He's also known for 'Shine Silently' and 'Why Me?' among his recordings.
In 1986, Lofgren was diagnosed with leukemia and had a bone marrow transplant. He recovered and continued making music, both on his own and with other artists like Neil Young and Ringo Starr.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
