No Fuel Economy formed in Newburyport, Massachusetts in 2004 with Adam Sherman on vocals and guitar, Chris Colbert on guitar, Ben Page on bass, and Matt Delaney on drums. They put out their debut album 'Another Limb To Waste' in 2006, which included the title track and songs like 'Breath My Dominion' and 'Day Of Judgement.'
Their music had a raw, introspective quality that didn't fit neatly into genre boxes, which made it hard for them to find a comfortable place in the industry. They kept releasing albums through 2012, including 'A History of Falling' and 'We Are All We Have,' but never quite broke through to wider recognition.
What stuck with people were those early songs, the weary determination in 'I Seek Freedom And Repose,' the blunt confrontation of 'Another Limb To Waste.' They built a small, dedicated following who connected with that unvarnished approach, even as the band itself remained something of an underground concern.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
