No Función came out of Barcelona's underground in 2006, mixing ska, rock, and Latin rhythms. Their 2007 debut album 'Menina del Hangar' gave them a national hit with the title track. The band had five members initially, including Xavi Rebollo on vocals and guitar, Daniel Castellet on vocals and keyboards, Juanjo Guillem on bass, Carlos Ibáñez on drums, and Isaac Rodríguez on saxophone.
They left their record label EMI Music in 2009 over artistic differences. Their lyrics sometimes touched on social and political issues, which drew criticism from some quarters. After releasing albums like 'El Bulto' in 2009 and 'El Puente de los Sueños' in 2011, they put out 'La Palabra' in 2014 and 'Transmisión' in 2017.
In 2020, No Función announced an indefinite hiatus. The members have since worked on other projects.
