No Future formed in 1985 in Gaia, Portugal, with Jorge "Zeca" Costa on vocals, António "Tony" Cartaxo and Miguel "Migas" Pimentel on guitars, Jorge "Jorgito" Teixeira on bass, and Luís "Fosco" Fernandes on drums. Their debut album 'Heróis Ou Malfeitores?' came out in 1987, and the title track became something of an anthem for Portuguese youth at the time.
Their lyrics often took on social and political themes, which sometimes put them at odds with authorities. They kept recording through the 90s and early 2000s with albums like 'Bala Perdida' and 'Ferro em Brasa'.
The lineup has remained fairly stable over the decades, with the same five founding members still playing together. They're considered one of the early heavy metal bands from Portugal, and songs like 'Quinta-feira a Noite' show their mix of heavy riffs and melodic hooks.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
