NoFace formed in the late 1990s around vocalist Sergio Guizé, with guitarist Felipe Abreu, bassist Gabriel Xavier, and drummer Rodrigo Costa. They started playing local bars and festivals, building a following with a sound that drew from grunge and post-punk while incorporating Brazilian elements. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2001.
Their song 'Poder Gritar' became something of an anthem, connecting with listeners who felt unheard. They released several more albums through the 2000s, including 'Visceral' in 2004 and 'Ruptura' in 2007.
NoFace's music maintained a raw, emotionally direct quality throughout their recordings. They never seemed interested in smoothing out their edges to fit commercial expectations, which gave their work its particular character.
