Nog formed in Rio de Janeiro around 2010, with João Pedro Silva on vocals, Guilherme Coimbra on guitar, and Leonardo Gonçalves on drums. Their sound pulled from hip-hop, reggae, and Brazilian rhythms.
In 2014, their track "Sítio do Tio Harry (part. MC Sid)" broke through. The song's working-class themes connected with listeners across Brazil.
Some of their lyrics, particularly in songs like "Razões Pra Acordar," drew criticism for addressing police brutality and corruption. They kept releasing music through it.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
