Normand Jacques was a Montreal singer-songwriter who started performing in the late 1950s. He signed with Apex Records in 1959 and put out his first album that same year.
He kept recording through the 1960s, putting out albums like 'Les Détraqués' in 1966 and a collection of Jacques Brel covers in 1968. He worked with other Quebec artists like Robert Charlebois and Claude Dubois. While his popularity faded in the 1970s, there was a bit of a rediscovery in the 1990s when younger listeners found 'Les Nuits de Montréal' again. He died in 2017.
