Normandie formed in Toulouse in 2014. The French alternative rock band includes Paul-Marie Barbier on lead vocals and guitar, Florent Salfati on drums, Kevin Roch on guitar, and Nicolas Delestrade on bass, with all members contributing vocals. They released their self-titled EP that same year, followed by the EP 'White Tree' in 2016 and their first full-length album 'Normandie' in 2017.
Their song 'Collide' became a notable track, though it drew comparisons to Linkin Park's 'Numb' from some listeners in 2017. The band denied any intentional copying. They put out the EP 'Suffer' in 2019 and the album 'Dark & Beautiful Secrets' in 2020. Other songs in their catalog include '(Don't) Need You', 'Awakening', and 'White Flag'.
Normandie's early material was sometimes described as dark, which led to some criticism, but they kept working on their sound. Their music tends to deal with emotional themes without grand claims about its impact. They're still based in France, making rock music that connects with their audience in a straightforward way.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
