North Mississippi Allstars

The North Mississippi Allstars formed in Hernando, Mississippi around 2001, with brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson at the center. Their debut album, "Shake Hands With Shorty," introduced a sound that felt raw and immediate, drawing from the blues and roots music of their home region. They followed it with records like "Electric Blue Watermelon" and "Hernando," which kept that earthy energy while letting the songs breathe.

Songs like "Down In Mississippi" and "Goin' Down South" show how they channel that Southern feel without getting too polished. The band has faced some rough patches, including Cody Dickinson's leukemia diagnosis in 2009, but they kept playing through it.
