See that old, rundown house by the side of the road

She called it home for years and years but that was long ago

She used to sit in her favorite chair right inside that window

Listening to kids and music and every sound that makes a house a home

He loved, he kissed, he worshiped, he adored

And her life ended when he left without using the door

Now his suits walk on men he’s never met before

But she slept in the same bed for two years more

And with a new coat of paint it could look just the same

As it did when we played in that yard three games of croquet

Or when we pulled in late on Christmas after driving all day

Or when we packed her up and moved her away
