Not My God formed in Finland in 2006 around vocalist and guitarist Jaani Peuhu. Their early sound drew from death metal and industrial influences, with demos that circulated in underground metal circles before their first album arrived.
In 2008, they released their debut album "Fictional Masquerade." The record's heavy riffs and Peuhu's vocal style got attention in extreme metal, and one track from it, "Fiction," became particularly known for its lyrics questioning social and religious conventions.
The band's direct approach sometimes stirred debate about their themes, but they kept working in their lane without much compromise to the outside noise.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
