Novarae formed in the late 2010s as a quartet with vocalist Elyse Rydell, guitarists Aidan Cortez and Ethan Kelley, and drummer Samuel Carter. Their debut single 'Break' came out in 2018 and found some traction, leading to their first album 'Ascension' the following year. They followed it with a second album called 'Convergence' in 2022.

Their songs like 'Leave It' and 'Tell Me' show a mix of pop and rock with electronic touches, though the band's sound shifted a bit toward more experimental territory on that second record. In 2020, they dealt with some plagiarism allegations that stirred up their fanbase, but they denied the claims and kept working.

As a group, they've put out a handful of tracks that lean into introspective lyrics and layered arrangements. The Blue Channel is another one that fits with their moodier, textured approach. They haven't released much since 2022, but those two albums and a few singles are what they're known for.
