O Amor Depois do Amor formed in Portugal in the late 1990s with Luís Varatojo on vocals and guitar, Carlos Costa on bass, and Manuel Moreira on drums. They released their debut single "Pra Ti" in 1999, which became a national hit in Portugal and won a Golden Globe for Best Portuguese Song.
The band's self-titled album came out in 2003, following their 2001 live album "Acústico ao Vivo." They've kept the same three members since forming, and their sound draws from pop, rock, and Portuguese fado traditions. Another of their notable songs is "Sol."
In 2019 they released "Pra Ti - Edição Especial," a special edition of their breakthrough single. While some critics questioned their approach early on, their music maintained a straightforward emotional appeal that connected with Portuguese audiences.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
