A Rio de Janeiro group that built a following through live shows before their 2005 debut took off.
For their rhythm and melody, check out 'Dia de Sorte' or 'Fogueira.'
They formed in 1998 in Rio's Lapa neighborhood, and their 2005 live album included 'Adoiê,' a samba track that became widely popular. Their sound drew some criticism from traditionalists who felt they were simplifying samba for broader appeal. They've worked with artists like Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso.
They started with live shows before releasing 'Ao Vivo' in 2005. Later albums include 'Samba Pro Mundo' in 2007 and 'Alegria' in 2013. The lineup has changed, but Marcos Sacramento's voice and the group's groove have remained central.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
