O Desolation formed in 2004 around vocalist Adam Binney, with guitarist James Meachum, bassist Dave Minyard, and drummer Ryan Bennett. Their debut album 'Bleed Myself Dry' came out in 2006, followed by 'Murder's Most Wanted' in 2009 and 'Asphalt Therapy' in 2012. The band stopped playing together in 2015.
Their songs like 'Greyscale Faith' and 'Heavy Heart Breather' carried a post-hardcore sound with lyrics that often dealt with difficult personal territory. Some listeners found their material too direct in its approach to subjects like depression and addiction.
Adam Binney's vocals gave their music its emotional center, while James Meachum's guitar work added texture around straightforward rhythm playing from Minyard and Bennett. They built a following through live shows that matched the intensity of their recordings.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
