O Filho de Cazuza was a Brazilian rock band that formed in 1998, taking its name as a direct homage to the late singer-songwriter Cazuza. The band's early lineup included Cazuza's son Diego Figueiredo on vocals, along with Pedro Gadelha on guitar, Rodrigo Santos on bass, Rodrigo Castanho on drums, and Leoni on keyboards. They released four studio albums between 2000 and 2006: 'Meu Mundo' in 2000, 'Caos' in 2002, 'Por Enquanto' in 2004, and 'Acústico MTV' in 2006.
Their song 'Depois da Noite de Ontem' became one of their better-known tracks. Other songs in their catalog included 'A Flor que ficou pra traz,' 'A razão de Brilhar,' and 'Homenagem ao Poeta.' The band's association with Cazuza's legacy brought both attention and complications, with some criticism that they were working in his shadow.
After their 2006 MTV acoustic album, there isn't much clear information about their activity. The band's story is mostly remembered through those four albums and the complicated position of playing rock music while carrying Cazuza's name.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
