O Processo formed in São Paulo in the early 1980s with Dado Villa-Lobos on vocals, Toni Platão on guitar, Mauro Santa Cecília on bass, and Marcelo Fromer on drums. Their music mixed rock with reggae and punk elements, which connected with listeners during that period. Their debut album 'Expresso da Modernidade' came out in 1984, and its title track became one of their most recognizable songs.
They followed that with albums like 'Vivendo e Não Aprendendo' in 1985 and 'Cabeça Dinossauro' in 1986. Other songs from their catalog include 'O Que Sentiu' and 'Quero Desapego'. The band's lineup shifted over time, Santa Cecília left in 1987, Fromer in 1991, and they were replaced by musicians like bassist Renato Rocha and drummer Pedro Dantas.
Villa-Lobos and Platão stayed with the group through these changes. Their sound developed from the rougher approach of their early work into something more refined, though they kept working with rock and reggae. They put out 'O Circo do Rock 'n' Roll' in 1989.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
