O Profeta formed in the mid-1980s around singer and songwriter Flávio Renegado. Their debut album came out in 1987, featuring the song 'Deusa.' That track, along with 'Mundo de Ilusão,' became central to their work.
Renegado's vocal approach gave the band its character, and their material often touched on spiritual themes. They worked with other Brazilian musicians like Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Rita Lee at different points.
The group developed a following through the late 1980s and into the 1990s, known for a sound that mixed rock with more atmospheric elements. Their recordings from that period remain what most listeners know them by.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
