O Som da Pegação formed in Salvador, Bahia in 2012. Their sound pulls from pagode, axé, and funk, with a style they call batidão romântico. The track "Mente Milionária - Batidão Romântico" became a hit for them in 2016.
Their songs often deal with love, desire, and money. Other tracks like "Grave Pesado," "Bengala do Barão," and "Posto 24 Horas" show their range within that romantic, rhythmic framework. The band includes vocalist David Lucas, percussionist Hemetério, guitarist Vagner Santana, and bassist Janderson Melo.
They've faced some criticism over their lyrics, but kept a loyal following. They put out albums like O Amor é a Resposta in 2018 and Tô Nem Aí in 2020.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
