OAG formed with Oliver Ackermann on vocals and guitar, Thor Harris on drums, Craig Wedren on keyboards, and Greg Saunier on bass. They put out their first album, Only A Game, in 1999. Their sound was a mix of alternative rock with some experimental and jazz touches, which didn't always fit neatly into the scene at the time.
They released several albums over the next decade, including In Praise of Shadows in 2002 and The World is Flat in 2004. They kept working, putting out Liar's Club in 2007 and Vanity Project in 2011.
Their songs like Disposal Garbage, Spastic Youth, and Figura Malaya show their range, from driving rock to more atmospheric pieces. The music often dealt with themes of alienation and modern unease, delivered with a raw, sometimes chaotic energy that felt genuine rather than polished.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
