OB Raps formed in Oakland in the early 2000s with Mistah F.A.B., Berner, J-Stalin, and Cellski. They started playing local shows and built a following before their 2007 debut album 'Ashes to Ashes' came out.
That album's single 'Legado' got attention and helped define their sound, which mixed hardcore rap with some soulful touches. They kept putting out records like 'The Definition' in 2009 and 'Hold the City Down' in 2015.
Mistah F.A.B. handled a lot of the writing, Berner worked on hooks and production, and J-Stalin brought a rougher vocal style. They collaborated with Bay Area figures like E-40 along the way.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
