Obús formed in 1980, led by vocalist and guitarist Fortu Sánchez. They came up during Spain's transition from Franco's regime to democracy, when rock music carried a particular weight. Their debut album 'Prepárate' arrived in 1981, and the single 'Dinero, Dinero' became a working-class anthem that gave them their first real recognition.
It became a cult favorite anyway. The band's sound mixed hard rock, heavy metal, and punk. Other albums included 'Vamos al Rollo' in 1983, 'Pega con Fuerza' in 1984, and 'Desde el Abismo' in 2003.
Alongside Fortu Sánchez, the core lineup featured Paco Laguna on guitar, Willy Vijande on bass, and Luis Maroto on drums. Their live shows were known for their energy. Songs like 'Alguien' and 'Autopista' are part of their catalog.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
