Oceano Vivo formed in 1995 in Cabo Frio, a coastal town in Rio de Janeiro. The original lineup included vocalist Mestre Cupim, bassist Victinho, drummer Chico, and guitarist Marcelo Lima. They started playing local bars and festivals, building a following in their region.
Their debut album 'O Som das Ondas' came out in 1997 and included the song 'Lágrimas,' which became a hit in Brazil. The track's emotional quality connected with listeners and helped establish the band's presence in Brazilian popular music.
In 2003, the band faced a legal dispute over the rights to 'Lágrimas,' which was resolved in their favor. They've continued performing at festivals and concerts in Brazil and internationally since then.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
