Ochi formed in Salvador around 2003 when childhood friends Thiago Pethit and Felipe Lira started playing music with guitarists Lula Côrtes and Diego Lopes. Their debut album 'O Sonho de uma Noite de Verão' came out in 2007, and its lead single 'Só Se For Com Você' became a national hit in Brazil. The song's haunting melody and ethereal vocals connected with listeners in a way that felt both vulnerable and direct.
After that initial success, Ochi kept releasing albums that shifted their sound. 'Melancolia' in 2012 drew some criticism for being too somber, but the band didn't really change course. They followed it with 'Paranoia' in 2015, which brought in electronic elements, and then 'O Terceiro Mundo' in 2018, which pulled from global rhythms. Pethit's introspective lyrics remained a constant through these changes.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
